Azure Market food grade citric acid is a fine white powder with a strong acidic taste, perfect for recipes that need an extra citrus-y tang! It occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables (particularly citrus) and is commonly used as a preservative or a pH balancer in cooking and wine-making. Just keep in mind that, like any acid, it will react with baking powder or baking soda if added to batter, causing additional leavening.

Culinary uses aside, our citric acid is a valuable and versatile tool around the house, great for use as a cleaner, stain remover, and fabric softener—and even a disinfectant or insecticide! Plus, it’s much safer than standard chemical cleaners. As an added bonus, consuming foods high in citric acid has been shown to help break down and prevent the formation of kidney stones.
